Shift points.

Ok so I have had my car out a few times and I need some help with the tranny. I am new to auto's so don't laugh. I am shifting the car manualy because I still haven't hooked up a vacuum line but when I go from 1-2 (even with me shifting) I have to get up around 3500 rpm. Now I was just reading about governors and I'm thinking I need to switch my weights to get it to shift earlier? But shoildn't it shift when I shift it no matter what weights are in it? Am I making any sense?

Without the vacuum line hooked up the tranny thinks you are always at WOT. If you want it to shift when you shift it you need a manual shift valve body. Automatic valve bodies will usually take a second before it shifts even when you are at WOT.

Ok that's good to know. Manual's are so much easier shift when you want.
