Is one brand of gear better than the other?

Hi guys,

Does anyone here run a 8.2 in. rear diff.? Are they strong enough for 420hp on the street? Do I really need a 12 bolt if I'm not putting slicks on/drag racing?
I have a 70 Chevelle with a 8.2 and am looking at buying a Eaton posi and some gears.

Theses are the gears I'm looking at. -

Superior-Axle-and-Gear
Motive-Gear
Richmond-Gear

I was wondering if one brand is better than the other. Do you guys have a preference, and why?

Do a 12 bolt. Build it strong and build once. At least you will know it will be able to handle any future engine modification. You build 8.2 to handle 420hp now and in a couple of years you over 500hp and you have to build 12 bolt any way.

8.5 is a little different then the 8.2. You are limited on axles for the 8.2. I think the only size axles you can get for the 8.2 is 28 spline. 8.5 you can get 28's or 30's. 12 bolt you can get 30's 33's or 35's. If you are looking to upgrade why not get a 12 bolt.
