Bought this car in November of 2007. No rot anywhere, floors are mint, interior is near perfect, two small rust spots, one on drivers side bottom door corner and the other is on the drivers side rear well lip. Currently the 3rd owner. Previous owner installed Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold and Crane Cam. A 305 is a 305 no matter how you spin it, it's not going to beat anything as i've been dismantled by almost every car, bicycle and mo-ped out there and I'm not scared to admit it. It looks good losing though as the paint is fresh and still glossy.

MODIFICATIONS

Small Block 350 2bolt bored .060" over
Keith Black Hyper Pistons with 4 valve reliefs
Stock Crank
Stock Rods
New bearings, caps, freeze plugs, etc, etc

Chevy 882 heads all redone. 2.02/1.96 int/exh valves
CompCam 1.5 Roller Rocker Arms
1.5" Lift Valve Springs
CompCam Thumpr Cam
CompCam Lifters
CompCam Double Roller Timing Chain
CompCam Timing Gears
Summit Harmonic Balancer

Summit Chrome Valve Covers, Timing Cover, Air Cleaner
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap Intake Manifold
Edelbrock 750cfm Carb
Edelbrock TES Headers
2.5" Custom Exhaust

World Class T5 5spd from an 88' IROC-Z
Zoom Flywheel
Zoom Clutch

8.5" POSI Rearend with 3.73 gears from an 87' Olds 442
Chrome Differential Cover

18" American Racing Chrome IROC's
Nankang NS Sport 2 Tires 235/40/18
2" Belltech Drop Spindles
Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs
20% Tint

Pioneer CD Player
Infinity Reference 3.5" and 6x9" Speakers

It's been a long and expensive journey but I'm almost there. 305/200-4r are out, A/C heater box is out. Cleaned/wire brushed engine bay frame with duraliner. Removed inner fender wells and cleaned/scuffed and painted black. Removed top plate and cleaned/scuffed and painted black. 350/T5 are now installed.

Next on the list is putting the headers back on, cut out a hole in the tranny well for shifter, install clutch pedal to stock monte pedal assembly, install hydraluic clutch linkage, wait for the rest of the parts to arrive, remove the stock rear-end and install new 8.5" POSI.

THEN SMOKE OUT THE NEIGHBORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

trying to use the new fuel pump I bought. Need to either get a 90 degree nipple thread to hose barb fitting. If i cant find one, ill try to rotate the bottom end of the fuel pump via the advice from Manny, and if that doesn't work im going to take my hammer and smash something until i feel better

distributor is in, but i took off the cap because i need to splice the battery/tach wires and put on connectors and connect them to the prong's of the distributor.

need to go to autozone to get oil pump shaft primer tool

need to go to home depot to get that 90 degree fitting

if i get both, than i will put in break-in oil w/ zinc additive, prime the bitch, hook-up negative battery cables, put in battery, hook everything up and pray to Allah that I didn't fuck anything up and it starts

dont think it will be ready for saturday. still need to take out rear-end and put in the new one. Still have the finish sandblasting then paint. Plus I think i will need new brake lines for the rear-end and whatever other hiccups will arise when trying to put it in

the water neck is not the right angle so the radiator hose is kinked. might re-use the 305 neck for now. i cant drive the car, just want to get it started for now just to know it runs before i go any further.

i hear ya paul. not trying to do anything half-ass'd, I just want to hear the motor run. Knowing it runs, which it does, thanks to manny, I feel soo much better now.

Put the clutch pedal and brake assembly together and bolted it back into the car under the dash. Cut the shifter plate and installed shifter, shifter boot and shifter ring, and shift knob. Here is how she looks now:

I got the clutch linkage installed at the clutch fork on the transmission, but haven't drilled a hole in the firewall yet for the slave cylinder. Still have to take out the stock rear-end and install the 8.5".

Got the old rear-end out yesterday. Put the new rear end in. All new brake lines and eibach pro-kit springs. Also got the slave cylinder through the firewall, but haven't connected it to the pedal yet. Manny and his brother came by to get the motor running, which of course they did. So loud it shook an empty beer bottle off my recycling container thats about 15 feet away from the car. Need to fill lines with brake fluid, put together the e-brake cables, re-installed brake drums, put in driveshaft, connect clutch pedal to slave cylinder and get my shifter welded to fit properly. I'll take pictures of the progress when I get home today after work.

I'm slacking on the pictures but i'll get to taking them eventually. The rear brake drums are all on. New brake cylinders, brake lines, springs, clips, pads, etc.

Front bumper and headlights are back on. Hood is on, but needs alittle bit of massaging to get the gaps a little tighter.

Need new e-brake cables. but thats for a later date to be completed

after finding out i had coolant in the oil and coolant leaking from heads, i took off the heads and put on new headgaskets, and put back on the heads, intake and PS side header. ran out of time to finish putting on the DS side header. need to adjust valves then maybe it might drive under its own power? NAHHHTTTT

UPDATE

Manny made his way over yesterday and he got the valves adjusted while me and my buddy Jake finished up the rest of the little things that had to be finished. The Turd runs now, so next nice day out might be the maiden voyage. Jim, if it runs, get your video camera ready, it's time to make a video either posted to the Wall Of Shame when I blow the tranny, or Burnoutbox Worthy burnouts.

Then we can take a video Jim of my tail lights after I smoke your shitbox GUN

I finally took the Monte out for its first cruise Sunday. Drives great. Runs great. Running open headers as of now but should be going into the shop sometime this week. Clutch disengages near the floor so I think it will need to be adjusted. Any ideas on how to adjust this?

stamps, i didn't even realize you posted. I like the cowl a/c top plate from gbodyparts. It's not much money at $50 and it's also not necessarily needed at the moment anyways. I've seen the top plate your referring to on our g-bodys when converting to electric fans. That top plate comes off of regals. I think that the stock top plate is as ugly as Jim, so I'm gunna order the gbodyparts engraved top plate when and if I have the funds to do so.

Ordered a T5 Basic Rebuild Kit from thegearbox.org yesterday. $134 including shipping.

Ordering all three e-brake cables from Advance in Attleboro tonight after work. Should be under $50 w/ discount for all of the cables.
