Project "Fire Chicken"

This is my 1979 Pontiac Firebird that i bought in october of 2007. Its been a slow process but it is coming along. It was a ugly betty when i bought it and it looks a whole lot better now but still a ways till i can cruise down the street. Has a pontiac 400 and a turbo 350 tranny. Also the suspension as been re-done with a Hotchkis TVS suspension that ran a pretty penny. I wanna tear back into the motor a bit and change the pistons out cuz i wasnt the biggest fan of the ones that went in. Also a cowl hood and the snowflake wheels to be reconditioned and lot of other goodies but i can wait till it moves before i do that stuff. So tell me what ya guys think of it so far?

This is when i Bought it

This when i put it into storage in December of 2009 before i deployed (sorry about the picture being fuzzy)

Well ya see, i have been asking myself that since i got it. Now call me crazy but i need a color thats loud and i dont want to have another typical firebird. So i was thinking like a metallic orange or something to the orange effect.

Im going to check out there website right now cuz Montiac here told me about going like a tangerine color. As for the rear end, like so many things with this car it moved with the money in my pocket. When it came time to do something with the rear-end all i did was paint it, the guy i bought it from said it was 3.55's but not quite sure i believe him. Its def posi tho. What do you guys think about this, when i get the snowflakes reconditioned i could have them painted to match or i could have them stand out and be all silver?

I would do the rims black if you go with a tangerine color.

Tom, this is the House Of Kolors - Tangerine color paint that Paul had mentioned.

What about like a dark green, something along the lines of this:

I think the dark green would look pretty good with some chrome or polished wheels. If you have the chrome/polished window trim it would look pretty good

The green is nice but it's a little too subtle for this project. I like the tangerine a lot, speaks volumes. I looked on the website and they also has a scarlette color that was a little more red/orange and than they had a solid orange that was cool too. So its don to one of the three. Its gonna come to finding a painter when i get home and seeing the three colors painted on a test panel to truely make up my mind.
