It's looking great! What gauge and type of steal are you using around the fuel tank? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what type of tig (i'm assuming) welder did you use? And any close ups of the welds?

This info is for me for educational purposes. My father is a professional welder and he was asking me to find him a somewhat portable tig welder. I was thinking of getting him one for father's day. any recommendations?

layed out the wire harness and installed the new fenders, and took a few dents out of the doors. made some good progress yesterday. as manny stated on my facebook, i used the claw hammer for the dents. until i buy a set of body hammers, thats what i have for now. i only banged out the corners in the doors. once i get the real hammers, i will mold them in. i was sick of looking at really bad creases. pass side fender has shaved intenna.

rod ends for the scoop linkage, and another air cleaner spacer came in today. after a few hours, i trimmed the spacers so the scoop sits flush on the carbs and have a slight angle. i put a scrap piece of rod to check if the butterflies open when the throttle is moved. everything works very well now and im waiting for the new rod to come in and bolt it all up

Good stuff... My vette has an edelbrock on it and it seems to like it. I have a buddy that swears by them because he says that they are easier to tune than holleys.

What does the slight angle do?

im not sure on the slight angle. it makes it difficult to mount a dual scoop. theres a 1/2" offset from front to rear. thats why if you look at my spacers, the fronts taller than the rear, and the bottoms are cut on there angles. now my scoop has a slight tilt going upward

just switch the spacers and it will level the scoop .

I would probably just leave it the way it is for now... Then when you have it on the motor and in the car, modify the spacers to get the angle/look that you want.

i have the angle right now. took a few hours of trimming, smoothing, and rechecking. the correct rod should be here monday. might be buying some snap ring pliers today and finishing the transmission gutting.

nothing much going on for now. i was looking into running the wires under the dash and noticed theres alot of cracks and broken brackets. i figured i might go with a different setup and give it a cleaner look. i know someone on a different site and he sent me a pic of what he did. i might want to do the same setup, but keep my center console.
