the other day a buddy of mine from NH said a friend of his from Ma knew the guy that owned one of my Ls1 cars 3 owners ago and had told him the guy had hammered it pretty hard.
I knew this was the guy that had done most of the mods on the car including $3000 in a built trans with 3600 vigilante stall , and had put 3.73's in it with full UMI suspension and subframe connectors after blowing the rear end up in it so I knew it had seen some hot suppers as any modded f body that has been through multiple owners would sueraly get hammered.
since the bolts ons and scrap weight were worth what I paid I have no illusions that it was only driven to church on sundays lol , but I remembered the for sale thread having this guy pop in and say hey my old car so I went back through his threads a bit and found a nice vid of it getting a hot supper - pretty funny to me , heres the vid , it gets interesting after he gets beat by a 68-72 body style nova at spectator drags then puts on a show , maybe you guys around seekonk know him....
i know Marco very well. He runs the 275 class in NH. I think i remembered he bought the car at a dealership(trade in)?. I know he flew down somewhere to get it and drove it home. I think the guy who bought it off him still has it and trying to sell it. car was in good shape untill new owner.
He also posted on this site a few times. He goes by Krazy(something ??)

I bought it from the kid Marco (KRAZY98Z28) sold it to , I havent registerred it as I already have too many cars registerred at the moment but I have backed it out into the street and tried out the stall , I have a cop for a neighbor in line of site so it will likely get its first hot supper from me at the track in the spring unless I can get STRICK9 to stop by with his dealer tag to take it for a rip.
The kid I got it from was scared of it , thats what he said and thats what he drove like - was going back to volkswagons lol but you could tell it had some nuts - pretty close seat of the pants to my 6 speed car which has pretty much identical mods (stock internals full bolt ons) and that has run 11.9's street tires not dr's for the guy I got it from and I was there the night he ran those times.
last year my work hours were silly and I just couldnt make it to the track but its looking like I will make some trips down this year if my schedule stays the same

It was the black SS that ran 10s. Marco never ran it at the track just on the street. Can't be leave it runs 11.9 I was beating that car with my 2000 Lightning and it only ran 12s, he had dr at the time, it also had different wheels on it. It was a nice car went with Marco to try to buy it back but couldn't meet on the price.

I didnt say the green car ran 11.9's , my pewter car ran 11.9's and has identical mods - 3 passes 11.95 , 11.96 , 11.99 all at 111 - I approached the guy after I had parked mine for the night and ended up with the car a year later when he stepped up to a 2010 camaro that hs is modding now.
the green car should run damn close to 11's with whats on it or I will need to dig into the tune to get it there - plenty of stock internals full weight ls1 cars have made it and Marco's old car is a 1SZ car - no power seats , windows ,mirrors etc ac and egr removed , 3600 stall , 3.73's with full UMI rear suspension components and frame connectors and QA1 shocks so all the stuff is there to hook it when I throw my dr's on it
I dont know if the trans , gears , rear suspension stuff was on the car when he owned it and you were racing him or if owners since him added those ??? Maybe yuo know ?
from the video I posted it looks like the magnaflow catback was on it then , the Kooks long tubes look new but being stainless they could be a couple years old , beyond that it has SLP upper and lower cold air intakes , LS6 intake manifold , BBK TB , March pulleys , and was tuned by Slowhawk , whether that is a good thing or not I dont know yet have to see what the scans look like and decide if I think I can improve on it or not- tunes can wander on high miles cars over time , what it needed then vs what it needs now could be different allthough it doesnt smoke and has very little piston slap compared to my other Z so the engine seems healthy.....
not dogging the car like i said it was nice when marco had it, but Josh the kid that bought it off marco hit a few things with it. Marco did the conv, and trans and josh did the rest I think. Josh had a superchips tune at the time, But heard don tuned it after we raced. I told marco about this post. He knows more then me.

not taking it as dogging the car no problem there , I was dogging it myself kinda by posting this thread/vid- for what I paid I did just fine (3200) and bought it under the assumption being a multiple owner modded ls1 car that had surely spit out an engine and trans at some point since both had been opened up it had likely seen some hot suppers
the only thing I had a problem with at all in the purchase is the guy never came through with the matching vette wheels for the front and went silent on me after a while ...thats why it currently has the stupid looking salad shooter z wheels on the front right now
but when I paid and put it on the trailer without them in my possession I knew there was the possibility that would happen and that is nothing to do with marco- not a biggie the rears are flaky messes and I was just looking for the other 2 to get them all blasted and powdercoated , Ill just apply what I would have spent on that towards something else for it
I bought it thinking I might put the ls1/4l60/harness/pcm in my black 2nd gen TA - I got the whole car for what people want for an ls1/4l60 pullout pretty much , but the green car is just decent enough that I am not going to part it out , really just needs the bumper cover painted , some decent wheels on it and take a wheel to it and it will be pretty presentable - not as nice as my pewter car which is puff but decent
honestly i know you said its a nice body and all but that ls1/4l60e combo in a 2nd gen sounds like a nice combo haha good luck with the car seems like you got a good deal bud
yea it just needs paint fixed nothing major. If i come across him i'll remind him about the wheels. Marco sold the car to him with the wheels thats on the vid. not sure y he put those wheels on. Can't remember if tranny went bad or if Marco just wanted to rebuild cause he was swapping converter, kill 2 birds in 1 stone deal. let us know if u go to the track we where talking about that 11.9 pass and he didn't beleave it himself.
weird thing is the original owner was a woman that bought it new in 99 at 68 years old and sold it last august at 80 years old and now I am the 5th owner lol but watched it change hands all those times on ls1 tech
